Residents were invited to get involved, debate and help shape the future of health and social care in East Lancashire at a recent engagement event.
Around 40 residents gathered at Haslingden Community Link & Children’s Centre on the evening of Wednesday November 16, to give their views and ideas on what works well, what needs improving and how to face the challenges ahead.

The Council wishes to notify that the Planning hearing scheduled for 29th November 2016 at 10:00am at Room 110, The Business Centre, Futures Park, Bacup, Lancashire, OL13 0BB has been cancelled.
The Planning Inspectorate has changed the appeal procedure to written representations and therefore a hearing will not now take place.

The national awareness day will be supported by Rossendale Council with 5th December being Rossendale Council’s internal day of awareness.
White Ribbon is an international campaign to raise awareness about domestic violence. The United Nations has designated 25 November as International Day for the elimination of violence against women and girls.

Rossendale Council is organising an open day which will provide a chance to find out about the project so far and look at what is still to come from this heritage restoration project.
The Open Day will be at the AB&D Centre, Burnley Road, Bacup, 10am – 2:30pm on Saturday December 3rd 2016.

Rawtenstall Christmas Market and Lights Switch On – Saturday 26 November.
There will be a magical Christmas Market on the Town Square in Rawtenstall on Saturday 26 November featuring over 50 stalls selling handmade artisan products, street food, farmers market produce, gifts and clothing. The market, which is open from 11am through to 8pm, is organised by Mark Smith, organiser of the Rawtenstall Farmers Market, Jane Boys, organiser of The Clog Market, and Danny Solazzo, owner of Artisan, supported by Rossendale Borough Council.

Civic Pride have collected another award this month, this time in the Royal Horticultural Society’s ‘Its Your Neighbourhood’ competition.
Civic Pride entered The Old Fold Garden (opposite Mr Fitzpatrick’s Temperance Bar) and won a Level 4 Award for Thriving, a mere one point off Outstanding!
RHS Judge Stephen Lowe said;
“It was great to see how this area had been transformed…from a foreboding, litter strewn, overgrown forgotten corner, into a superb blast of colour which will lit the spirits of all who sit and enjoy the results of their hard work.”

On Tuesday Novemeber15th Rossendale Council took part in the Local Government Association’s (LGA) “Tweetathon” for their #OurDay campaign and we wanted to share the content with all those not on twitter as well.
#OurDay is organised by the LGA to focus on what services Councils provide, and to give communities a flavour of a typical day at the Council.

The Rossendale Business Awards were a huge success this year, demonstrating the strong, expansive business offer the Valley is home to.
The event, run by Valley at Work, marked its 7th year this year, and each time it gets bigger and better. The selection of winners on the evening demonstrated the strength in tourism, creative business and enterprising people in Rossendale.

Due to condition weather conditions Farm collections for Friday 18th November 2016 have been delayed.
Every effort will be made to complete today’s other collections where access is possible and it is safe to do so, however current conditions may result in limited success in areas on a gradient or where vehicle manoeuvrability is limited.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Rossendale, Councillor Granville Morris and Mrs Susan Morris, visited Molly Barnes, Haslingden, this week to wish her a very Happy Birthday.
This year Molly is celebrating a very special birthday as she turned 100 years old on Wednesday 16th November, and her niece Pat Hutchinson arranged a visit from the Mayor and Mayoress as part of the celebrations.
