Have Your Say – Lancashire Draft Cycling and Walking Strategy

You can have your say on plans to encourage more people to walk and cycle for everyday and leisure journeys in Lancashire.

Lancashire County Council and partners are developing a draft Cycling and Walking Strategy for Lancashire, which also covers the neighbouring areas of Blackburn with Darwen and Blackpool. The strategy will shape local spending priorities aimed at developing Lancashire’s walking and cycling offer over the next ten years, building on the range of high quality walking and cycling routes which already offer excellent access to the county’s towns and cities and beautiful rural landscape.

Extended Access to GP Services Across East Lancashire

NHS East Lancashire CCG is pleased to announce that following the 12 week consultation and feedback from patients received in summer 2016, a consortium of GP Provider Organisations, which are made up of local GP practices, are collaborating together to develop and deliver new models of extended GP services.

The models, being developed by GP Provider Organisations and the CCG, involving patients from the beginning, will offer extended access to GP services across East Lancashire.

Grants Secure the Future of VIC

Three grants have been awarded to Veterans In Communities to secure projects over the  coming years.

Their long-term funder the East Lancashire NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has
approved a further grant for two years – a total of £160,000 – while £8,000 has been agreed by ABF, The Soldiers’ Charity and £21,710 from Heywood Middleton and Rochdale Social
Investment Fund.

Council honours victims of London attacks

Rossendale Borough Council would like to offer its deepest sympathies and condolences to the victims of yesterday’s attack in Westminster.

The Leader of Rossendale Borough Council, Councillor Alyson Barnes, said:

We watched in horror with the rest of the country as yesterday’s events unfolded in London.

Our thoughts are with the victims and everyone else caught up in the attack.

Information on Council Tax Bills

Council Tax bills for the year April 2017 to March 2018 are being issued from 15th March 2016 and we wanted to provide some information so that you knew what each part of your bill means.

The Council has to send out a bill for every property in March each year.

Top Marks in Leisure Trust’s School Report

Rossendale Leisure Trust reports super school stats in its end of year report for the Rossendale School Sports Partnership.

The Leisure Trust continues to grow and the latest stats from the school sports partnership, run alongside the games organiser at Fearns School (Nathan Bibby), shows that it is now in England’s top 10 based on Schools Games Key Performance Indicators.

Solar Powers the Way at Rossendale Council’s Offices

In just over four years, the Council has generated £67k in savings from Solar Panels.

In 2012 Rossendale Council installed solar panels on the roof of its Futures Park Offices, in those 4 years and 4 months we have generated a total savings/income so far of just under £70k.

Based on this rate we will have paid for their installation just after October 2019 meaning that the £112k investment will be retuned back in just six years nine months.

Help Overview and Scrutiny Develop the 2017/18 Work Programme

We welcome feedback from residents on what would be a good topic for the committee to look at.  We are looking for things that affect you and your community.  This could be something that is the Council’s responsibility, or the responsibility of one of our external partners.
