An awards ceremony will celebrate the outstanding work of groups and individuals to tackle loneliness and isolation in the borough.
Nominations are sought for the council’s Living Well Living Better Awards which will be held in June.
Rossendale was one of the local authorities chosen by the Government in 2016 to receive funding to pilot new ways of improving the health and wellbeing of local communities.

The weather may be turning warmer, but if your home has been cold over the winter or your heating bills have been sky high, now might be the time to apply for an Affordable Warmth Grant.
Rossendale Borough Council is working in partnership with MSV Homecare and Repair (formerly St Vincent’s) to offer the grants.

The popular Whitworth Family Fun Day and Dog Show takes place on July 8.
There will be lots of attractions including rides, inflatables, stalls, performances by local dancers, candy floss and ice cream.
Five fun titles will also be up for grabs in the dog show: waggiest tail, scruffiest mutt, cutest dog, perfect puppy and finest senior.

Running man Adrian Smith is gearing up for his latest challenge in aid of two charities which provide vital aid for vulnerable children and families.
The Bacup-based father-of-three has already raised £11,000 by completing a marathon in the Middle East and the legendary Great North Run half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields.

Rossendale Council’s communities team is providing support and guidance for people who want to throw a street party to mark Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day on May 19.

A taxi driver who allowed his children to travel in his car without booster seats has lost his appeal to keep his licence.
Basharat Hussain appealed Rossendale Council’s decision to revoke his hackney carriage licence but the appeal was dismissed by Burnley Crown Court.
Hussain, of Skipton, West Yorkshire, took his case to the Crown Court after Magistrates dismissed an appeal in September 2017.

Voters in Rossendale are being urged to register in time for local elections in May. If you are already registered to vote there is no need to re-register.
The elections take place on Thursday, May 3rd, and the deadline for receiving applications to register to vote is Tuesday, April 17th.

A free event is being held to help Rossendale businesses, charities and other organisations meet the requirements of new data privacy regulations.
Rossendale Council and Burnley College are holding the GDPR Express workshop on April 23. It is part of the Council’s Invest in Rossendale programme.
It takes place at Rossendale Council, Futures Park, Bacup, from 9am to noon and will include information from specialists on data privacy, cyber security, IT and mobile phone hardware recycling, data protection and digital marketing.
