A lot of interest is being shown in the Great British Spring Clean between March 22nd and April 23rd and Civic Pride Rossendale welcome anything that highlights the scourge of litter and inspires people to roll up their sleeves and get picking!
Civic Pride volunteers are out there 365 days a year clearing our streets and open spaces so, in addition to organising their own mass litter pick, they’re helping out with two others as well.

Rossendale Council’s public protection team has successfully brought prosecutions against several people accused of various crimes recently.
Two residents were prosecuted and fined for abandoning cars in Rossendale in separate incidents.
Daniel Barry of Crawshawbooth and Lauren Anderson of Whitworth were found guilty in their absence at Burnley Magistrates and were ordered to pay over £1,000 each.

Rossendale Council has welcomed progress on the redevelopment of Rawtenstall Station.
Diggers moved in this week to begin work on building a new canopy which will eventually span the entire length and width of the station buildings. East Lancashire Railway says the £600,000 development will see
Rawtenstall Station redeveloped to ‘provide enhanced facilities for not only visitors to the East Lancashire Railway but the local community too’.

The leader of Rossendale Council has welcomed more good news for the borough as it was announced Pennine Lancashire is to benefit from potentially up to £10m in funding to help more people be physically active.
Last year Pennine Lancashire, which Rossendale is part of, was successful in being named as one of 12 pilot areas to work with Sports England to develop bold new approaches to build healthier, more active communities.

A new vision for Bacup, shaped by residents and businesses, has been published.
Bacup 2040 Vision has been used as a basis of a bid for the Future High Street Fund, which the Council confirmed it was applying for last month.
More than £2m of investment has been brought into the town already through the Bacup Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) fund.

The Bacup Now Easter Festival is on its way with a massive line-up for kids big and small.
Taking place on Saturday, April 20th, from 10am to 4pm at Bacup Market and on Irwell Terrace, there will be the traditional Britannia Coconut Dancers Easter Boundary Dance, a chance to meet ‘Star Wars’ characters and performances by Dansworks Dance Academy of Performing Arts and The Rossendale Drum Majorettes.

A steering group will lead on the planning and delivery of the proposed commuter rail link from Rossendale to Manchester, with stops along the way at Rawtenstall, Ramsbottom, Bury and Heywood.
The Valley City Link group brings together MPs Jake Berry, Liz McInnes and James Frith; representatives from Rossendale, Bury, Rochdale and Lancashire County Councils; Transport for Greater Manchester; Greater Manchester and East Lancashire Chambers of Commerce and local business leaders.

A new video showcasing the success of a pioneering project which has helped 25 people back into work has been released.
The film was released to highlight and celebrate the Rossendale Works programme.
Plans are now being drawn up that could see Rossendale Works being replicated in other boroughs.

Employability Officer Paul Becouarn is employed by Active Lancashire and delivers the project on behalf of Rossendale Council.
