Lancashire will move into Tier 4 from midnight 30.12.20

All of Lancashire is to go into the highest tier: Tier 4 – STAY AT HOME, from midnight on 30.12.20

We know this is difficult news, but we need to prevent the spread of the virus. The new Covid variant is more infectious and is in Lancashire – although we are being affected less than in other areas.

Council’s regeneration bid for Bacup’s high street and market not successful

AMBITIOUS plans for Bacup town centre failed to secure Future High Streets Fund, but residents are being reassured the work has not been in vain.

Rossendale Borough Council’s was bidding for an £11.7 regeneration grant, but the bidding was very competitive and unfortunately Bacup’s 2040 Vision was not successful.

However Deputy Council Leader Councillor Jackie Oakes said: “We carried out the largest consultation exercise Rossendale has ever had and we had more than 30 representatives on the Bacup 2040 Vision Board.

Council confirms extension dates for Discretionary Grant Funding applications

Rossendale Council have confirmed an extension to the date’s businesses are able to apply for further discretionary grant funding. 

Businesses that have been severely affected by Covid-19 since October are able to apply for the discretionary Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) even if they have already applied for other grant funding.

Essential works in Haslingden Cemetery

Rossendale Borough Council have announced that essential works to Haslingden Cemetery will begin in January and is likely to cause some disruption for a number of weeks.  

Network Plus will be carrying out the work on behalf of United Utilities to replace a section of failed sewer within the grounds of Haslingden Cemetery.

Street food brings Haslingden alive with delicious sights and smells

Haslingden Market will be filled with the sights and smells of street food – as traders host ‘Grub Bazaar’ food market. 

The event, which will be fully Covid compliant and serving takeaway food, is to run this Sunday (20 December) between 12-4pm at Haslingden Market bringing the best pop-up authentic street food to the town with this alternative offer.

Transformational plans for Haslingden approved by Council

A detailed Stage 2 bid, which is part of the Haslingden 2040 Vision & Masterplan, has been approved by the Council. The approval means the bid can now be submitted in Spring 2021. 

Rossendale Council successfully secured first stage funding in December last year from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to develop plans to transform Upper and Lower Deardengate in Haslingden, as well as parts of Manchester and Blackburn Road.

Council confirm Discretionary Grant Funding is now available

Rossendale Council have released criteria and guidelines for businesses in the borough to apply for further discretionary grant funding.

Businesses that have been severely affected by Covid-19 since October are able to apply for the discretionary Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) even if they have already applied for other grant funding. The Local Restrictions Support grant (LRSG) is also open which is aimed at the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors that, even though not mandated to close, have been affected since 5th August.
