Council launch employability forum to help Rossendale residents

Rossendale Borough Council have held the first ever Employability and Skills Forum in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The forum brought together representatives from a wide variety of organisations to promote collaboration between the groups and the existing employability and support programmes in the valley.

Improved Staghills play area nears completion

2021 has started with some good news for the residents of Staghills. After a difficult year, this month will see the finishing touches added to the new Staghills Play Area in Rossendale. The play area improvements have been driven by the Newchurch Village Community Association group, with support from Rossendale Borough Council and the team at local community interest company, Proffitts – Investing in Communities.

Whitworth’s New Year’s Day ‘Virtual’ Duck Race an egg-citing success

A popular event in the Whitworth calendar, the ducks took to the water at the overflow of Cowm Reservoir on Tong End in driving wind and rain. This year due to social distancing the race took on a virtual twist with the race taking place in secret, filmed and then streamed at 1pm New Years Day.
