Rossendale Borough Council have hosted a visit of a team from the Local Government Association. The corporate peer challenge is used by councils across the country to understand how well they are delivering for local residents and to share ideas on how they can accelerate some of their plans.
The team, made up of councillors and officials from other local authorities, found the council to be ‘really impressive’.

Rossendale council along with their colleagues from Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) are holding a carer career fair at Futures Park on 25 November.
The event which runs from 2-4pm is open to everyone and is an opportunity for people who may be interested in care work to speak to local care businesses about job opportunities.

Rossendale Council have thanked all those that attended and spoke at their recent conference on Climate Action in the borough.
The conference held at the Ashcroft Centre in Whitworth was used as a platform to raise awareness and share information about grants and actions being taken locally to help reduce the overall carbon footprint for Rossendale.

Exciting plans to improve the town square area in Rawtenstall have been confirmed with an on-site start expected mid November.
The scheme will see a much-improved area with new parks and garden space and a dedicated events area created. The plans follow on from the council’s earlier decision not to progress with future phases of Spinning Point in order to create a new public area.

A successful bid for just under £1 million of Government cash means businesses across Rossendale, Burnley and Pendle will be able to access extra support to expand and develop new technologies
Rossendale Council together with Burnley and Pendle councils and Growth Lancashire are to receive £994,083 from the UK Community Renewal Fund to deliver a business grants programme across the three boroughs.

Local leaders have welcomed the news in the recent budget that Rossendale Council’s bid to take the next step towards the restoration of passenger rail services between Rawtenstall, Bury and Manchester has been approved by central government.
The success of the council’s bid to the government’s Restoring Your Railways fund means it will also receive contributions from Lancashire County Council and the Department for Transport towards the cost of developing a Strategic Outline Business Case.
