Rossendale will be playing host to various Remembrance services up and down the Valley.
The series of Remembrance events start with an uplifting concert organised by Rossendale Council at St Peter’s Church, Haslingden at 2pm on Sunday November 6th.
Everyone is welcome to this free concert will feature music from The Haslingden Concert Ban and The Veterans in Communities Singing Group and aims not only to Remember fallen heroes but to also raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
Traditional Remembrance services will then take place up and down the valley over the Remembrance weekend;
Friday 11th November
Stacksteads Service – 10:45 at the Peace Garden, Toll Bar, organised by the Stacksteads Countryside Park Group
Saturday 12th November
Edenfield Service – 10:45 at the Memorial Gardens, Market Street, organised by the Edenfield Village Residents’ Association
Sunday November 13th
Helmshore Service – 08:45 parade begins on Broadway with a service at St Thomas’ Church at 09:15, organised by the Helmshore Branch of the Royal British Legion
Crawshawbooth Service – 10:00 at Rakefoot Methodist Church, followed by Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial at 11:00, organised by Reverend Jenny Montgomery.
Whitworth Service – 10:20 parade assembles at corner of Tong Lance and Market Street to the Cenotaph, then to The Riverside for refreshments, organised by Whitworth Town Council.
Cowpe Service – 10:45 at Cowpe Sunday School followed by an Act of Remembrance at the War Memorial, organised by Ann Elmer.
Waterfoot Service – 12:30 at Trickett’s Memorial Gardens, organised by Waterfoot Forward.
Haslingden Service – 13:00 at the War Memorial in Greenfield Gardens then a parade to Veterans in Communities for refreshments, organised by Amy Thompson.
Rawtenstall Service – 14:25 at the Town Square for a parade to the Cenotaph for a service, parade back to the Town Square for refreshments at Rawtenstall Cricket Club, organised by the Rawtenstall Remembrance Parade Committee.
Bacup Service – 14:30 at the Fire station with a parade to the Cenotaph for a service, the parade will then go to the Conservative Club for refreshments, organised by Peter Steen, Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal Organiser.
Representatives from the Council will be in attendance at all the services and the Concert.
