Lancashire’s PROUD Awards

Published November 4, 2016 at 16:05

Inspiring children and young people from Lancashire can now be nominated to receive a recognition award as part of Lancashire Children and Young People’s PROUD Awards.

The awards recognise the successes and contributions made by looked after children and young people, or those who have previously been looked after.  A child is ‘looked after’ if they are in the care of the local authority for more than 24 hours. The PROUD awards are a great way to recognise children and young people who have worked hard to change things, to improve the lives of others or shown outstanding spirit. We know that many children have overcome and continue to overcome significant obstacles and that they are all amazing. We hope that PROUD will highlight all of them by focusing on some of the help, inspiration, talent and positive contributions. From 0 upwards there are categories for all sorts of heroes and we want to hear about who YOU think deserves an award.

Achievements in their own lives and helping others will be recognised by the PROUD awards.

Nominations are already open and will close on Wednesday 30 November. People can nominate online here.

You can nominate:

  • Individuals or whole groups of children and young people who are looked after or care leavers (aged 0-19 years or up to 25 if they are leaving care or have additional needs)
  • Children and young people that you have worked with up to 18 months ago (you do not have to currently be working with them)
  • As an individual or staff team

Young people can be nominated individually or in one of the following award categories:

Positive choices and achievements
Responding to the needs of others
Outstanding service to the community
Unique talent
Danny Collins inspiration award

Everyone who is nominated will receive a congratulatory letter and a certificate of recognition.

You can find more information about the awards here so why not get thinking about your heroes and nominate someone today.
