Rossendale Council has taken action to have a new shopfront in Rawtenstall altered after it contravened planning laws and received complaints from local residents.

The Council worked with the owners of Higher Cloughfold Store on Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall after the shopfront was erected unlawfully.

And the Council has since received several positive comments from residents on the improvements made.

Nicola Hopkins, Planning Manager for Rossendale Borough Council, said:

We are delighted with this outcome. We took the complaints seriously and our enforcement, planning and conservation officers worked successfully with the owner on a solution. The new shop front looks great and is an appropriate design solution for this shop.
