A special webcast taking place next week will promote upcoming volunteering opportunities in Rossendale.
Broadcasting live from Haslingden Community Link & Children’s Centre from 1 -3pm on Monday, June 5 the webcast will feature question and answer sessions with community groups; an opportunity to share volunteering experiences; a chance to ‘name and acclaim’ unsung local heroes as well as general information about volunteering.
The webcast, which can be viewed here, is part of a new drive to recruit volunteers in Rossendale.
The ‘Volunteering in Rossendale’ initiative has been designed to encourage, support and celebrate volunteers, led by Rossendale Borough Council in partnership with REAL, BPRCVS, Rossendale Citizens Advice, Rossendale Hospice, Lancashire Wellbeing Service, and Lancashire Adult Learning.
A series of taster sessions will follow the webcast which will take place at Whitewell Bottom Community Centre.
The first session on Friday June 9 from 9.30-12.30pm will provide an introduction to volunteering and promote the many opportunities available in the borough.
Further sessions will be held on June 23 and July 7 from 9.30-12.30pm and will cover the roles and responsibilities of a volunteer, safe and sound awareness and the benefits of becoming a volunteer.
All the sessions are free with refreshments provided. Any cost of travel by public transport will be reimbursed.

Stephanie Thornton, Public Sector Reform Officer for Rossendale Council, said:
Volunteers are a vital part of our local community. Without their support many community groups and organisations couldn’t deliver the activities and services that matter so much to residents.
“Whether you’re looking for work experience whilst studying or want something to do after retiring; if you’re a caring person that wants to put back into your community, or you want to get back into paid employment, volunteering is the perfect answer.
