Colleagues at Rossendale Borough Council are delighted to have hit their £1,000 target to raise money for Rossendale Hospice.
The group along with Councillor Steve Hughes completed the 10K run through Manchester city centre on Sunday 28 May.
Calling themselves the Futures Running Team, the runners practised together weekly after work and for most of them the 10K was their first major race.
However, several of them achieved personal best times.
Emma Openshaw, Admininstration Assistant, who only took up running earlier in the year, managed to complete the run in under an hour and fifteen minutes.
“There was a fantastic atmosphere in Manchester for the run and it was great to take part in the event with all the other runners. I was really pleased with my time. Since taking part I have signed up for the ASDA Foundation Bury 10k as I intend to carry on running as a hobby.”
