The Leader of Rossendale Council Councillor Alyson Barnes, has praised Civic Pride Rossendale after they were awarded the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
Last Wednesday, Civic Pride Rossendale were one of only five groups from Lancashire to be awarded the award, which is known as the MBE for volunteer organisations it is the highest recognition that a voluntary organisation can receive in the UK.
The Lord Shuttleworth KG KCVO, presented a crystal on behalf of Her Royal Highness to ten of their many volunteers at a ceremony in County Hall, Preston. Chris Blomerley, Chair of the group, reiterated what an honour it was to receive this recognition on behalf of the many volunteers’ past and present who have made it possible.
