Rossendale Council has released an update on parking in Rawtenstall.
Councillor Andrew MacNae, Portfolio holder for Regeneration, Tourism and Lesiure, said:
“The council have started to look at this issue as parking in Rawtenstall is becoming a real issue especially with commuters parking up all the day which limits spaces for shoppers and affects trade.
“No decisions have yet been made and we will be asking for traders’ and residents’ views before deciding what to do. We will also want to look at it in terms of the wider plans for Rawtenstall and make sure any decision supports the vision for the town centre.
“To be clear though councillors are committed to maintaining free parking for shoppers”
