Bid to end blight on local neighbourhoods

Rossendale Borough Council has issued a fixed penalty notice of £400 for flytipping.

The fine was given to a man from Bury after household waste was found fly tipped next to Wood Lane in Edenfield.

Councillor Jackie Oakes, Portfolio Holder for Operations at Rossendale Borough Council, said:

Flytippers are a blight on local neighbourhoods and their disgusting and arrogant behaviour needs to be stopped. These fines will provide the council with another tool to deal with flytippers which is much quicker than prosecuting through the courts. The fines will help us get even tougher on those who commit environmental crime and show them that this antisocial and lazy behaviour is not welcome in Rossendale.
