Christmas comes to Rossendale

Get  ready for Christmas in Rossendale with a whole host of events taking place around the borough.

On Saturday, November 18, it’s the Rawtenstall Christmas Light Switch on.

It takes place at 5pm at the top of Bank St (outside DoDahs) and will see Rawtenstall’s Tom Hamer, double Paralympic silver medallist, welcome in the festival season.

Plus there’ll be live music and entertainment, hot food and a family lantern parade will get everyone in the Christmas spirit.

The parade meets on Town Square at 4pm and will parade to the top of Bank St and feature a piped band.

There’ll also be a brass band, entertainment, children’s activities and fairground rides on Rawtenstall Market all day from 12 noon as well as late night shopping.

There will be a Christmas Market on  Saturday November 25 on The Town Square in Rawtenstall organised by the Clog Market.

Meet up with your family and friends, browse the stalls and chat with the traders.

Enjoy all the vintage finds, artisanal products, try some of the delicious food or treat yourself to mulled wine, have a coffee, cup of tea, craft beer, hot whiskey and listen to the brass band, singers and musicians.

Friday, December 1 brings the Haslingden Christmas Lights Switch on and Christmas Market .

The event starts at Haslingden Library at 5pm with performances from local schools and a special guest at the library who will then switch the lights on at 6pm.

Haslingden Christmas Market will run from 5-8pm with most local businesses staying open and putting on events of their own.

And on Wednesday, December 6 it’s Bacup Christmas Lights Switch on and Christmas Market at 4.30pm on Irwell Terrace (outside Woodcocks solicitors).

It’s organised by the Rotary with local primary schools, Stacksteads Band, Santa and his sleigh, carol singing.

Bacup market will also be open until 7pm with extra stalls and entertainment.
