Weather disruption to Council services

Published March 1, 2018 at 11:55

Due to the bad weather a number of Council services have been disrupted.

After trying to brave the elements yesterday, waste collection crews had to suspend refuse collections until Friday.

They will be resumed as soon as it is safe to do so when extra staff will be deployed to help with the backlog who will also remove any additional side waste left by residents.

Currently some of our staff are assisting Lancashire County Council that has responsibility for gritting, with snow clearing and gritting on pavements and town centres.

In addition the One Stop Shop is also closed with pre-arranged appointments being cancelled and re-arranged in due course. We are sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.

A Met Office amber warning is in place for Rossendale with Police warning people to only travel if necessary. If you have to drive please stay safe and follow ROSPA’s winter driving tips

If you’re going out, remember to wrap up warm and take care on slippery surfaces.  If you have an older neighbour or relative, look out for them to make sure they are safe and well.

Please follow our website, Facebook and Twitter pages for updates and keep safe and look out for vulnerable neightbours.
