The Leader of Rossendale Council has paid tribute to the emergency services and volunteers who worked tirelessly to deal with the Haslingden fire on Tuesday (May 15).
Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of the Council, said:
“We worked very closely with Lancashire Fire and Rescue, the police and Lancashire County Council to deal with the Haslingden fire and its aftermath.
“The fire and rescue service once again did us proud and tackled a situation which could have been a lot worse than it was.
“I also want to thank the volunteers at Haslingden Community Link who opened their doors on the morning after the fire and stayed open throughout the day for residents affected to get rest and refreshments.
“Rossendale Council officers were on the scene of the fire working closely with the fire service and contractors all day to make the area safe and also provide support to residents.
I want to pay tribute to everyone involved in dealing with the situation.”
