There was plenty of fun in the sun at the annual Whitworth Family Funday.
Attractions at the Riverside car park included funfair rides and games, a rodeo bull, ice cream and candy floss.
Dancers from Samba Dance and Fitness entertained visitors and there was range of fundraising and craft stalls.
The planned dog show was cancelled because of the heat but RRG Toyota Rochdale still brought along an Aygo car covered in paw prints. People had to guess the number of prints, with the winner receiving a giant soft dog.
The event was organised by volunteers from Whitworth Town Council’s tourism and leisure committee.
Committee chairman Councillor David Chorlton said:
It was such a shame to lose the dog show this year but it was a decision which had to be taken following advice from Rossendale Responsible Animal Rescue and local vets.
Even so, we still had a great day in the glorious sunshine. Thanks to everyone who came along and joined in the fun, and to everyone involved in the event’s organisation. Roll on 2019!
