The NHS in East Lancashire is seeking the views of people via a new survey, whether they are patients, carers, or health professionals who use adult community nursing services.
NHS East Lancashire CCG wishes to hear from people who have used the following local health services:
- District Nursing – This is a service for patients who are unable to visit a GP or health centre and need nursing care at home
- Domiciliary Phlebotomy – This is routine blood testing for patients who are confined to their home due to illness or disability
- Tissue Viability – This is a specialist service provided by nurses who treat and improve the healing of wounds
The aim of the survey is to help understand what people think of those services and to help services to see where improvements can be made.
East Lancashire CCG is responsible for commissioning (buying) health care services on behalf of local people. The CCG commissions East Lancashire Hospitals Trust (ELHT) to deliver these community services to patients living in East Lancashire.
Dr Santhosh Davis, Burnley GP and Integrated Care Lead at the CCG said:
District nursing, domestic phlebotomy (taking blood samples) and tissue viability (wound care) services are all important aspects of community nursing. They ensure that people can be seen, treated and supported in their own home, and community. This can help people to live well and independently without needing an unnecessary visit or stay in hospital. By listening to people’s views about adult community nursing services we can use this information to develop services which really do meet the needs of patients.
We have had a great response so far from people and there is still time for anyone who would like to comment to do so.
The survey is available online and doesn’t take long to complete. It asks three simple questions:
- What do you like about the service?
- What, if anything could we do better?
- Is there anything else you would like to tell us about the service?
GP practices and community nurses can also be provided with paper copies of the questionnaires for people to complete. The survey can also be completed over the phone by calling (01282) 644627.
