Help to improve your local community

Published September 7, 2018 at 12:01

People are being urged to have their say on improving their neighbourhoods.

Rossendale’s four community partnerships for Bacup, Haslingden, Rawtenstall and Whitworth are producing community action plans for their local areas.

Each plan will have six themes: community safety, environment, leisure, health and wellbeing, transport and the local economy.

The partnerships have begun getting people to tell them what they like about their neighbourhoods, what needs to change and how these changes could take place.

There will be information stands at local libraries on the following dates where people can add their ideas:

  • Week commencing  September 10 –  Rawtenstall Library
  • Week commencing September 17 –  Whitworth Library
  • Week Commencing September 24 September – Bacup Library
  • Week commencing  October 1 –  Haslingden Library

People can also e-mail their ideas to the communities team on communitiesteam@rossendalebc.gov.uk . The team is happy to meet any interested local groups who want to know more.

The community partnerships have replaced Rossendale Council’s neighbourhood forums which were set up ten years ago. They will have a greater focus on how communities can work with Rossendale and Lancashire councils, the police, voluntary groups and others to make positive changes in their areas.
