A business owner has been ordered to pay £405 following a row over shop shutters.
Syeda Monzu Uddin, owner of Haslingden Food Store, appeared at Burnley Magistrates Court charged with non-compliance with an Enforcement Notice and was fined £200 with costs of £175 and a victim surcharge of £30.
Action was taken by Rossendale Council in August to remove roller shutters from the Haslingden Food Store after the owner did not comply with an order to take the shutters down.
Councillor Christine Lamb, Portfolio holder for Regulatory Services, said:
I am very pleased with this outcome and it shows that Rossendale Council is prepared to take action to make sure regulations are followed. They are there for a reason, business owners are aware of this and there are repercussions for flouting these rules.
I am pleased to say that the owners did get in touch with the Council and were very apologetic about the situation.”
