Rossendale Council has expressed its disappointment about County’s decision to close Haslingden Household Waste Recycling Centre for two days a week.
Lancashire County Council’s cabinet has also agreed proposals to change opening times to 9am – 5pm all year round.
Responding to the decision, Councillor Jackie Oakes, Portfolio holder for Operations, said:
As a Council, we are very disappointed about this decision. We believe it will contribute to a rise in fly-tipping which we will have to deal with.
We understand the County Council is facing serious financial challenges but this decision will create severe issues for us as a Council, for our residents and for the borough. We will continue to raise our concerns with our local county councillors.
