Rossendale Council has expressed its concerns over proposals to end two vital services.
Lancashire County Council’s Cabinet meets today (Thursday, June 13) to discuss proposals to end the Lancashire Wellbeing Service and the Integrated Home Improvement Service.

Responding to the proposals which are set to be agreed following a consultation, Councillor Steve Hughes, Portfolio Holder for Communities and Customer Services, said:
“Of course, we understand the county council is facing serious financial challenges and have to make tough decisions but we believe these proposed reductions in prevention services, if agreed, will create severe issues for some of our borough’s most vulnerable residents and will increase demand on the health and care services in the future.
“I accept the proposals do include efforts to mitigate the impact of these changes but they are too ill defined at present and certainly don’t go far enough to meet the genuine need which these services currently meet.
“Even though we are not an authority with responsibility for social care, we do play a key role in improving health and wellbeing in the borough. We will continue raising our concerns with our local county councillors and will be asking them to work with us to make sure people’s health and care needs are met.”
