On the hottest day of the year so far, eleven scouts from the 45th Rossendale group assembled at Jubilee Gardens in Crawshawbooth to start the clean-up that the area so desperately needs.
This initiative contributes towards the Scouts World Challenge Award, the idea of which is to inspire young people to volunteer for activities within their community.
Organised in conjunction with the Outreach Team of Civic Pride Rossendale the area was transformed from weed infested to an attractive place to sit and watch the world go by. Indeed, the following day reports were coming in that locals were already taking advantage of the newly restored area!
However, the story doesn’t end there. Existing Civic Pride volunteers are determined to build on the excellent work the scouts have started by having regular weekly sessions in the village.
The first one is at 9.30am on Monday 8th February. All are welcome and tools, hi-vis and equipment will be supplied.
