New funding agreed for Haslingden Pool

Rossendale Borough Council is further supporting the aims of Haslingden Baths Community Interest Company (CIC) as they work on renovating Haslingden Swimming Pool.

In additional to the £25k grant and £25k loan the Council gave the group in 2015 to support improvements to the building, a further £100k will be given to the group to support the renovation work. This will be matched in kind and in work done by the group.

The group will now commence a period of fundraising in order to fulfil the aim of opening the pool again.

Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of Rossendale Council, said; “The group have been working hard to try and get the pool up and running again, this additional funding should build on what has already been done and help secure the future of the facility. I visited the pool yesterday, it was good to meet some of the volunteers and see first hand some of the work they had been doing”.

Selina Hope, a director of Haslingden Baths Community Interest Company (CIC), welcomed the funding news saying; “”We are of course delighted to be receiving this funding, and we hope the community will continue to volunteer and donate. We will need their support more than ever now as we concentrate on match funding the £100k. We are positive our efforts will be worthwhile, our community focused business will enable the local community to swim again in Haslingden, and the vibrant community hub we are developing will be well used. We look forward to our ongoing journey and would like to thank our community for their continued support and Rossendale Borough Council for this opportunity.

The Council continues to work closely with the group on their business plan for the pool.
