Alyson Barnes, Leader of Rossendale Borough Council, said:

We are delighted at this proposal as we have been lobbying for this for some time. It is really important we get improvements in infrastructure in this area.

It is also vitally important for the environment in particular to improve air quality which has been flagged up as an issue in this area. This funding proposal is welcome news in the next steps to tackling this. We have played a key part in highlighting the need for it and we urge Lancashire County Council to make a decision as soon as possible.”
