New neighbourhood forum request

Published February 3, 2020 at 10:50

The Council has received an application to establish a neighbourhood forum for Bacup and Stacksteads.

Prior to formalising this, we are required to both publicise the request and invite comments about whether this group should be able to prepare the neighbourhood plan and if the boundary being proposed for the neighbourhood area is correct.

If designated this forum will be responsible for preparing the neighbourhood plan for the area shown for the next five years.

The neighbourhood plan for Bacup and Stacksteads must be consistent with the strategic policies of the local plan and may contain policies for the development and use of land.

In preparing the neighbourhood plan consultation will be required and it will undergo formal examination and be subject to a community referendum.

Once approved the neighbourhood plan will be used to determine planning applications within Bacup and Stacksteads.

Details of this application can be viewed at the One Stop Shop, at Bacup Library during normal opening hours and on the Council’s website.

Comments must be made in writing before 5pm on Tuesday 25th February.  An online form is available on the Council’s website.
