Rossendale Council will pay tribute to key workers who have lost their lives to coronavirus by holding a minute’s silence at 11am today.
Council leader Councillor Alyson Barnes hopes all residents in the borough will take part in a silence to remember all those key workers who have died during the pandemic.
The silence is being held on International Workers’ Memorial Day, an annual event led by trade unions to remember those who have died at work, or from work-related injury and diseases.
Councillor Barnes said:
“Tragically, doctors, nurses, social care staff, transport workers and others have lost their lives to coronavirus while keeping us safe, well, moving and fed.
“I hope everyone in Rossendale takes part in a minute’s silence to remember them whether you are at home or in work delivering essential services.”
