People are being urged to stay safe and stick to social distancing rules when using Rossendale parks and green spaces.

Rossendale Council kept the parks open since lockdown measures were introduced so people could use them to exercise daily.

Now residents can go out to exercise more often, the Council is urging park users to keep to strict social distancing rules.

Councillor Alyson Barnes, Leader of the Council, said:

“We have some lovely parks in Rossendale and I know people are keen on using them. But please when you do go, make sure you follow the rules on social distancing.

“Our parks are open for people to come to but I would urge people to be mindful that they could easily become overcrowded.

“Coronavirus has had a terrible toll . But we are a resilient folk in Rossendale. And as a borough, we have responded magnificently to this awful virus. But we are not out of the woods yet.

“I would reiterate that the basics have not changed: people should stay at home as much as possible and if you do go out of your house, make sure you keep two metres apart at all times.”
