Rossendale Council, in partnership with the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), has helped to secure a host of new roles for local carers following a successful career fair held last week (November 25).
The event, held at Futures Park in Rossendale, was open to anyone interested in a future career in care. Guests in attendance had the chance to speak to local care businesses about live career opportunities in the borough. Interviews were held throughout the day with immediate starts offered on the spot to those candidates who impressed.
Councillor Alyson Barnes, Rossendale Borough Council Leader said: ‘’The care sector plays an absolutely crucial role within our society. We organised this event with the dual aim of supporting those looking for work within our borough, and to ensure that our care businesses are well-staffed and able to continue the essential work they do.
“We were delighted to see over 20 interviews held on the day and more being set up for a later date.”
All the care providers in attendance offered full training to accepted candidates, who will be given the opportunity to gain a recognised care qualification.
Laura Walsh, Registered Manager at Always bespoke Care ltd, one of employers in attendance at the event, added: ‘’The event was a huge success. We had a lot of interest on the day which resulted in us employing three new people to our team. We hope our information and advice available helped people in Rossendale get back into work.’’
