Vaccine bus stops in Rossendale

Published June 24, 2022 at 9:00

The covid vaccination bus is coming back to Rossendale at the beginning of July making it easier for residents to start or complete their covid vaccinations.

The bus will be at the following locations

  1. Friday 1 July, Haslingden John Street car park
  2. Wednesday 6 July, Bacup Irwell Terrace
  3. Thursday 7 July, Rawtenstall Town Square

Vaccinations will be available between 10.00 -16.00. No appointment is necessary and anyone over the age of 12 is able turn up for first, second and booster vaccinations at the temporary facility making getting a jab easier and more convenient. Staff and clinicians will be on hand to answer questions and address any concerns people might have.

Currently anyone over 16 is entitled to 3 covid vaccinations and the over 75’s a fourth jab. Those with supressed immune systems or severe breathing difficulties are entitled to an additional jab.

Alyson Barnes Leader at Rossendale Council said: “The vaccination bus proved very popular and effective when vaccinations were first introduced, so we’re pleased to see it in Rossendale again.

“It allows people who maybe have difficulty getting transport out of their immediate local area, access to vaccinations at a time and place that suits them and it’s great that people can turn up without an appointment and get vaccinated.  We’d encourage residents to come down, make sure they’re up to date with the vaccinations and get jabbed if they haven’t already.

“People may feel there is less of a threat now, but the virus is still out there, and it is still vitally important that as many people as possible are vaccinated. The severity of the virus does seem to have lessened and that is in part due to the numbers getting vaccinated, so we must keep that up.”
