Flag Flying at Half Mast

The Council’s flag is flying at half-mast in Rawtenstall as a mark of respect for Honorary Alderman Mrs Dorothy Ramsden.

We have been advised today that sadly Honorary Alderman Mrs Dorothy Ramsden passed away yesterday (May 19th).  She was made Honorary Alderman in 2008 in recognition of her 19 years service as a borough Councillor for Acre and Town between 1973 to 1976 and Greenfield Ward between 1976 and 1992.  She was also Mayor between 1982 to 1983.  Although Mrs Ramsden had moved to Knott-End-on-Sea she always had a special fondness for Rossendale and returned whenever she had the opportunity.

We have made The Rossendale Free Press aware that the picture they have used in the tribute article to Mrs Ramsden in the 27th May 2016 edition is incorrect and is not a photo of Mrs Ramsden.
