Bacup Christmas Cracker!

Bacup got into the festive spirit this weekend, in spite of Storm Desmond! The event was by no means a wash out, a few hundred people enjoyed the festivities and Bacup market was in festive mood.

Santa paid a visit and set up his Grotto, there was face painting and balloon making alongside the retro vintage market.

On Irwell Terrace the marquee (providing much needed shelter from the worst of the weather) was packed out for the Nativity and carol singing performed by children from Sharneyford and Britannia primary schools.

Stacksteads Band and the Britannia Coconutters provided festive cheer on Irwell Terrace and on Bacup market, and there was carol singing from Trinity Baptist Church and performers from the Royal Court Theatre.

The marquee also housed craft and gift stalls with traders reporting a good day.

Stacksteads Councillor Christine Lamb attended and said;

“In spite of the bad weather there was a great Christmas atmosphere and people turned out to support this event.  It was good to see everyone working together to kick off the Christmas festivities in Bacup”.
