Bacup hosted the Northern Grip over the weekend (July 7,8 and 9). Hundreds of people gathered for the festival.
Councillor Andy MacNae, Portfolio holder for Regeneration, Tourism and Leisure, visited the festival and praised what he saw. He said:
“I was delighted to see the Northern Grip go so well. There was a buzz around Bacup and the organisers have put on a superb festival which had something for everyone not just serious mountain bikers.

Cribden Hill hides in plain sight. It’s a big lump that looks down upon the west end of the Rossendale valleys. You can’t miss it. But loads of people do.
Where is it?
It lies between Rawtenstall and Haslingden. It’s the hill that has Ski Rossendale on its flank, Whitaker Park on its skirt and the Halo on its side.

A new film is helping cement Rossendale’s reputation as the Adrenaline Valley.
The Hope/PMBA Enduro series Round 2 took place at Lee Quarry in Bacup on Saturday, June 3 and Sunday, June 4.
Hundreds of mountain bike racers tackled the 23-mile six stage course. The video shows the thrills and spills of an exciting event.

Riding bikes is clearly a big part of Northern Grip. Whether it’s on your own bike or one of the dozens of swish new demo bikes, enjoying the trails of Rossendale is a big part of the Grip experience.
But there’s also the other aspect of Northern Grip. The reason why we call it a festival.

Our festival hub will be in the amazing Stubbylee Park – nestled at the foot of Lee Quarry this hidden northern gem of a Victorian park offers stunning spaces, woodland, cafe and perhaps most importantly an easy gateway to the thrills and rides we’ve got planned for the day. We’ll be taking over the rear of the park for the weekend bringing plenty of festival treats to add to the recently opened pump track
We’re excited to announce that we will now have camping and showers available ON SITE in Stubbylee Park for both Friday and Saturday nights.

The Northern Grip Festival, a top mountain biking event, is being held at Lee Quarry this summer. In the run to the festival, the organisers will be writing a series of blogs for this website.
Lee Quarry is unique in UK mountain biking. It’s a place with a long history but only the past decade has been about mountain biking.

Rossendale’s Lee Quarry will play host to this year’s Northern Grip, a hugely successful mountain bike festival.
This new video promotes the festival as well as showcasing some stunning views of Rossendale.

Hundreds of people recently flocked to Rossendale to help celebrate Grip & Go’s first birthday.
The £275,000 climbing centre, which is based at the Adrenaline Centre in Haslingden, celebrated the milestone by hosting a first birthday party.
The Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Granville Morris, kicked off the celebrations by giving a welcome speech to visitors.
