Kicking off the month with a noble cause, the Mayor and Mayoress attended the Rossendale Relay for Life event.

Whitaker Park Masterplan unveiled

Rossendale Borough Council are working alongside Community Interest Company Proffitts – Investing in Communities and several local community groups on a project to improve Whitaker Park in Rawtenstall. 

As part of the project, the team have created a draft Masterplan for Improvements that was shared with park users and local residents in March of this year.

Rossendale Borough Council disappointed over inadequate fine for fly tipping offence

Rossendale Borough Council have expressed their disappointment with the fine and costs imposed on an offender, who recently appeared before Burnley Magistrates Court and pleaded guilty to fly tipping a large amount of household waste. 

The Council believes the penalty fails to reflect the seriousness of the offence and its impact on the community and environment.

Stockport man prosecuted for fly tipping in Rossendale

A 35-year-old man from Stockport has been found guilty of dumping a large amount of rubbish on Laneside Road, Haslingden by Burnley Magistrates Court, following a case brought by Rossendale Borough Council. 

Mr Seamus Conroy of Goyt Valley Way, Stockport, appeared at Burnley Magistrates and pleaded guilty to fly tipping. He was fined £320 and ordered to pay £250 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

Rossendale Borough Council searches for applicants to lead £17m regeneration project

Rossendale Borough Council has launched a search for the project lead who will oversee major developments following the award of more than £17m in government funding.     

The Council is seeking applications for the role of consultant project manager/contract administrator as it embarks on its capital regeneration programme.  

The opportunity comes following the awarding of more £17m from the government’s Capital Regeneration Project (CRP) Fund that will support its placemaking ambitions.

Green flag flies again over Stubbylee and Moorlands Park

In a record-breaking year Stubbylee and Moorlands Park is raising its prestigious Green Flag Award for the third year running. 

Rossendale Borough Council is celebrating after receiving the prestigious Green Flag Award for Stubbylee and Moorlands Park. 

The news that the park has achieved the accreditation – the international quality mark for parks and green spaces – is testament to the hard work and dedication of the council team and group of volunteers that care for the green space so that everyone can enjoy it.

Rossendale Works set to continue and support another 120 people into work

A further 120 local residents will be supported into work following the extension of the Rossendale Works employment and skills programme until March 2025.

Rossendale Borough Council members unanimously agreed the extension at their June meeting, with charity Active Lancashire set to continue delivering the programme on behalf of the council with funding provided through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF).

Rossendale’s Heritage United

A group has revived a network first set up in the 1990’s to bring people together to celebrate and promote Rossendale’s rich heritage. 

Rossendale Heritage Network – a flexible network allows members to dip into it as and when they can and to a level, they are comfortable with. 

Councillor Annie McMahon Rossendale Borough Council’s Heritage Champion said: “We’re so lucky to have so much social history and heritage across our gorgeous valley – from the mills of the industrial revolution; our weavers’ cottages and working looms to the Valley of Stone celebrating our stone quarrying history and our shoe industry.

Successful jobs fair returns to Rossendale

Rossendale Works, an employability partnership between Rossendale Borough Council (RBC), Active Lancashire and Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), is holding an employment and support event on Wednesday 14th June 2023 at Futures Park in Bacup. 

The event, which runs from 1pm-3pm, is open to anyone looking for work or who may need support to move into work.
