Rossendale Council has received £17.9m funding in today’s budget.
Council Leader Alyson Barnes said: “We’re very pleased to have finally received almost £18m in funding which we first identified in our Levelling Up bid. The council, along with our partners and stakeholders, have worked incredibly hard to maintain the pressure on the Government.
A ‘Masterplan for Improvements’ at Whitaker Park is being drafted – and stakeholders are looking for nearby residents to have their say on the changes they’d like to see.
Rossendale Borough Council are working alongside Community Interest Company Proffitts – Investing in Communities and several local community groups including The Friends of Whitaker Park, The Whitaker Park Museum, Civic Pride Rossendale, The Rossendale Leisure Trust, and Incredible Edible Rossendale on a project to improve Whitaker Park in Rawtenstall.

Rossendale Forest, the council’s tree planting initiative to plant a tree for every child in the borough – that’s 16,000 trees –between 2022-2025 – has successfully planted more than 11,500trees since the start of 2022.
