Councillor Andrew MacNae, chair of Bacup THI Board, said after last night meeting about the public realm scheme: “I was very pleased with the number of people who came to share their views and I want thank everyone for taking the time to come to the meeting tonight. It is very important the community is involved in shaping the future of Bacup. The meeting was very lively and there was lots of good points made. There was lots of real and genuine concerns about the scheme which we and our partners Lancashire County Council who designed the scheme need to reflect on. We will take the comments and the questions back and look at them, along with the other feedback we have received from all the other engagement work we have been doing. I think this scheme is in the right direction as do many people I have spoken to but it has to be right for Bacup. We have to be completely satisfied this scheme meets our aims of improving the town.”
