Bacup THI Board statement on roadwork delays

Following on from Lancashire County Council’s announcement about the completion of the Bacup roadworks being delayed, the Townscape Heritage Initiative Board has released this statement.

Acting chair Councillor Jackie Oakes said:

“Lancashire County Council have told us the expected completion of highways improvements as part of the Bacup Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) will be delayed.

Local Plan update: map published

Following requests from residents Rossendale Council has published a map of the proposed allocation of a stopover site for Travellers at Futures Park in Bacup.

The Leader of Rossendale Council, Councillor Alyson Barnes, has this week written to the Government to seek clarification on the legislation requiring all Councils to identify what traveller sites are needed across Local Authority areas as part of the production of a Local Plan.

Update on travel problems in Bacup

Lancashire County Council has issued an update following yesterday’s (July 10) travel delays in the Bacup roadworks.

A spokesman for the county council said:

One of our highways engineers went to the site as soon as we were aware of the problems and worked with the contractor to scale back the traffic management to allow traffic to flow more freely.

Go ‘coco-nuts’ this weekend in Rossendale!

A longstanding Easter tradition will be revived again this weekend as the Britannia Coconutters come out to play in Rossendale.

People from the valley and beyond are expected to line the streets as the famous ‘folk dance’ troupe visit 25 separate locations around Rossendale on East Saturday, March 31 accompanied by members of Stacksteads silver band.

Residents advised over potential Bacup power outage

Electricity North West have advised of a potential power outage affecting Bacup this Friday, February 2 from 9-11am.

In the event of an outage the Council’s telephone system will be unavailable.

Saddle-up for the 2018 return of popular Rossendale mountain biking festival

Rossendale will again play host to an adrenaline-fuelled mountain biking festival this summer.

Northern Grip returns to the borough in 2018, taking place at Bacup’s Lee Quarry and the pump track at Stubbylee Park on Saturday, July 7 2018.

Fans of cycling can look forward to an exciting day of trails, new bike demonstrations and exhibitions, as well as live music and DJs playing into the night.

Taster day at Stubbylee Park

Are you over 25, looking for work and living in Bacup?  Do you want to get outside and learn new skills?

If so you might be interested in a new environmental project called MyPlace starting this week at Stubbylee Park.

It will see participants attend weekly sessions at the park, getting involved in practical conservation, bushcraft, mindfuness and other nature activities.
