Rossendale Council in partnership with the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce, have held a climate change business breakfast event – Destination Net-Zero.
27 businesses from across all industries and sectors attended the event to find out more about how they can reduce their carbon footprint and ways to reduce their soaring energy bills.

A new support scheme for small businesses affected by the Covid-19 crisis is now open in Rossendale.
The Government has made £877,750 additional funding available to the Council to allow us to further support small businesses through this grant scheme.
The scheme is aimed at small and micro businesses across the borough who didn’t receive help through the initial Small Business Grant Fund or the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Fund.

Shops and retail have been told they can open their doors again from next month following closures due to the coronavirus crisis.
The Government set out a timeline and some retail reopened on Monday and further guidance has been published for how to operate safely to protect staff and customers.
Other shops and stores will be able to open from Monday, June 15, again if certain safety measures and checks are met.

The Government has announced that certain business and workplaces are now able to open.
It has published guidance for employers to help them get their businesses re-opened in some form and to keep workplaces operating safely.

The guidance applies to businesses currently open and the additional businesses which can open from Wednesday, May 13th, which are: garden centres and some outdoor sports facilities such as golf courses.

Rossendale Borough Council has now paid out more than £14 million to businesses in the valley during the coronavirus crisis.
These have Government grants been paid to 1,319 businesses across Rossendale to help them cope while being forced to close due to the pandemic.
A number of businesses are still eligible for the grants and are urged to apply.

A Rossendale Company has been shortlisted for a prestigious international award – and it needs your help.
Arthouse Limited, which designs interior products such as wallpaper, wall art, mirrors and cushions, is in the running for a National Public Champions Awards, which are part the European Business Awards.
The company, which employs more than 70 people, will be battling with other UK businesses in a public vote.

Over 300 properties have benefited from the Flood Resilience Grant opportunities to help protect them from future flooding following the devastating effects of the Boxing Day floods in 2015.
We have received 295 Flood Resilience Grant applications which will benefit 321 properties in Rossendale.
The grant funding has meant that £1.4m worth of flood resilience and protection measures is being invested into Rossendale for our residents.

East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce and delivery partners Regenerate Pennine Lancashire and North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce have competitively secured £8 million from Round 6 of the Regional Growth Fund to stimulate enterprise across the County by providing grants and International Trade support to manufacturing businesses with the potential for economic growth.
