Council welcomes Lancashire business rates announcement

Lancashire has been selected as one of a number of areas to take part in a national pilot allowing councils including Rossendale to retain 75 per cent of growth in business rates.

Rossendale Council welcomed the news.

Andrew Walmsley, Portfolio Holder for Resources, said:

“Although only for 2019/20, this is good news for us as it will help provide a bit more financial stability for the councils involved.

Rates boost for Rossendale businesses

Businesses with up to 250 employees could receive a discount of up to 100 per cent on their annual rates to help create more jobs in the borough

Rossendale Council has introduced a new three-year relief scheme for National Non-Domestic Rates – what people know as businesses rates – for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
