A total of 250 real Christmas trees have been donated to Rossendale Council for recycling.
Environmental officers have been busy disposing of and recycling the trees following the offer to collect the real trees after the festive season for just £5.
The trees are being shredded and the organic material will be used for recycling. Collections will be taking place until January 31st.
Councillor Adrian Lythgoe, Portfolio Holder for Operations and Development Control, said:
I am thrilled that so many people signed up for the Christmas tree service. Getting the tree composted or mulched is a great and green way to deal with your old tree and means there is less waste, which is a good way to start for a greener 2020. We hope even more people will take up the offer next year.”
