Rossendale Council could bring in a private company to crack down on littering, flytipping and dog fouling.
A proposed 12-month trial would allow private enforcement officers from the firm District Enforcement to issue on-the-spot fines across the borough for the offences.
Two dedicated officers would patrol the borough’s streets and parks seven days a week, targeting hot-spots identified by the council.

A new community space is steadily taking shape on the site of the former basketball courts in Waterfoot Centre.
Pupils from the Green Team at Waterfoot Primary School came down to site to take a closer look this week. They will be working alongside artist Alastair Price and Proffitts – Investing in Communities to learn more about the history of Waterfoot and of this site itself and turn their ideas into beautiful and unique designs which will be interpreted into permanent artwork for the site.

Two residents have been prosecuted and fined for failure to remove rubbish that was attracting rats and other pests.
Michael Anthony Kershaw, 33 and Nicola Kershaw, 43, of Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth were found guilty at Burnley Magistrates Court in their absence and were ordered to pay over £1,000.
The pair were each fined £250 with £250 costs and a £30 Victim Surcharge.
