The first workshop at Bacup Cricket was very vibrant and successful, there being a good mixture of 38 creative people, young, and not as young, creating some beautiful lanterns for the Parade on the 29th October.
The next workshops will be as follows;
Fearns School Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th August – this has to be booked in advance and as it’s during Theatre Week it’s already booked up!
If you were in Rawtenstall last Thursday morning (July 21st) you may have seen a group of individuals in Civic Pride hi-vis jackets walking around admiring the gardens. What was remarkable was that they weren’t weeding, planting, digging, pruning, sweeping up or picking litter which is what they’ve been doing day after day, in all weathers for many weeks during the lead up to Britain in Bloom!
Civic Pride are pleased to announce the formation of a new litter picking group – the Carrs Industrial Estate Team.
In April of this year our Haslingden division supported by some of our Rawtenstall regulars cleared over 280 bags plus huge amounts of larger detritus from across the Carrs Industrial Estate.
The area around Turnpike/Burnley Road East/Booth Road crossroads in Waterfoot has had a facelift thanks to Civic Pride volunteers Liz and Ian Hoskins.
Over the last few months whilst Ian has been busy picking litter, Liz has been out clearing the footpaths and steps of accumulations of leaves, weeds and soil.

Samaritans in Pendle, Burnley, Craven & Rossendale are celebrating Volunteers’ Week (1-12 June 2016) by saying a great big thank you to their team of life-saving volunteers.
Every 6 seconds someone contacts Samaritans. Across the UK and Republic of Ireland, more than 20,000 volunteers give well over 5 million hours of their time a year – responding to calls, fundraising, supporting people in prisons, workplaces and schools, and running its 201 branches.
Another Community Column piece from Civic Pride Rossendale
Surely one of the premier industrial estates in the valley it is often the first, last and indeed lasting impression of Rossendale for its many visitors whether they come by car, van or HGV.
Early in March 2016 the Haslingden branch of Civic Pride supported by a few Rawtenstall members, realising what a despicable state the area was in, decided to do something about it.
