Rossendale Council are encouraging people who may be at risk of becoming homeless to contact them directly to assess their needs and the options available to them.

Central Government have made limited additional funds available to assist those who find themselves struggling with homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless.

A council spokesperson said: “We want people to understand that if they are at risk of losing their home then there are a number of ways we can help and the earlier you seek advice the greater the options available to you”

To request help with housing from the council people should apply via an online form here https://bit.ly/PresentHomeless

“Once an application for assistance has been made a Housing Options Officer will contact you within 5 working days to discuss your housing circumstances, the options available to help keep you in your home or to help you to move to a new home. “

If you are, currently sleeping rough or sofa surfing the council may be able to help with temporary accommodation while you find a home or help you secure a home.

The spokesperson added: “We will assess your needs and requirements and will always do our best to help. However, temporary accommodation is likely to be outside of Rossendale due to a lack of supply”

Applications for help should be made by completing an online form here https://bit.ly/PresentHomeless as soon as possible, as the funding available is limited
