Rossendale Council has praised the work of a borough community group which has received Royal approval.
Civic Pride Rossendale has won a Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, described as an MBE for charities.
Stuart Sugarman, Chief Executive of Rossendale Council, paid tribute to the group and its volunteers.
He said: “I am delighted Civic Pride have been recognised for their outstanding work in making Rossendale a better place. This is a well-deserved accolade. We can’t thank Civic Pride and its many volunteers enough for what they do.
“Groups like Civic Pride do so much good for the borough and without them, Rossendale would be a much poorer place.
“As a Council, we will continue to support our local groups and work with them to improve the borough.”
