Lancashire has been selected as one of a number of areas to take part in a national pilot allowing councils including Rossendale to retain 75 per cent of growth in business rates.
Rossendale Council welcomed the news.
Andrew Walmsley, Portfolio Holder for Resources, said:
“Although only for 2019/20, this is good news for us as it will help provide a bit more financial stability for the councils involved. Of course, we still face tough times and we are still feeling the impact of government funding reductions but this step towards a long needed change will help so we can spend more of the money collected here on our local priorities and making the borough a better place. I want to pay tribute to all finance teams across Lancashire who secured this funding.”
