Council unveils supports for Friends of Cemetery Groups

Rossendale Council has outlined the support residents can expect to set up Friends of Cemetery Groups.

The Council is already working with people interested in developing a Friends of Haslingden Cemetery group.

The hope is if the Friends group is successful in Haslingden, the Council will help residents start friends groups in the borough’s other cemeteries.

Council announces Rawtenstall market partnership plans

Rossendale Council has announced plans for an exciting partnership to rejuvenate Rawtenstall market.

In papers published today, the Council has outlined plans which will see the owners of the very successful Clog Market take on the management of Rawtenstall Market.

Speaking about the announcement, Councillor Alyson Barnes, leader of the Council, said:

“We want to see all our markets be vibrant, colourful and bustling, venues that bring in local people as well as shoppers from far and wide.

Next phase of work to improve Bacup town centre set to begin

Work will start in July to enhance the centre of Bacup. Smart new paving and improved pedestrian facilities are planned as part of the next phase of the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) gets underway.

It will see pavements in and around St James Square upgraded with high-quality York stone, roads resurfaced and three new zebra crossings installed.
