The Leader of Rossendale Council is asking everyone in the borough to take part in a nationwide round of applause for NHS workers
Councillor Alyson Barnes is appealing to residents to join in a gesture of thanks to frontline healthcare heroes by taking part in a mass round of applause from their doorsteps, windows and balconies on Thursday at 8pm.

A hub to support the communities, families and individuals facing tough times because of the coronavirus outbreak and the stepping up of social distancing and isolation measures is set to be launched.
Rossendale Connected Hub is a partnership between Rossendale Council, Rossendale Leisure Trust, the Rossendale Primary Care Network, Burnley Pendle Rossendale CVS and a wide range of community partner organisations and volunteers.

This week, the Government announced further measures to try and curb the spread of coronavirus.
This is an extremely worrying time for everyone in the borough. But it is important we follow the government’s advice and guidance.
The measures to increase social distancing include:
· Shopping for basic necessities
- One form of exercise a day
- Medical need
- To care for a vulnerable person
- Travelling to work only when absolutely necessary.

The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

The leader of Rossendale Council has welcomed progress on Bacup’s multi-million pound bid to improve the town centre.
At tonight’s Cabinet, councillors will receive a report outlining progress on the bid and some very initial concept ideas for the town.
Bacup is in the running for Future High Streets funding and council officers are working closely with councillors, community groups, residents and businesses to put together a credible bid to government.

Rossendale Council has welcomed news that flood grants are being made available to residents and businesses in the borough
The Government has announced a package of measures and financial help to help those directly affected by recent storms.
Households and businesses in Rossendale affected by flooding during Storms Ciara and Dennis may be able to receive financial help.

The Leader of Rossendale Council has welcomed news the Council is set to receive thousands of pounds in funding to support domestic abuse service in the borough.
Rossendale Council was one of 15 Lancashire local authorities involved along with the county’s refuge services in a bid to government for a share of £2.1m.
