Councillors have voted to introduce new penalties to crack down on rogue landlords.

The new powers will allow the Council to fine landlords who do not take seriously their responsibilities to tenants. The money from the fines will then be used to improve housing standards across the borough.

The Council has also pledged to tackle landlords who harass or evict tenants unfairly. For example, evicting tenants who have requested repairs.

Councillor BarbaraAshworth, Portfolio Holder for Health and Housing, explains the changes in a new video.
